SBS's director, Elaine Orimo, has danced since she was 7,
receiving training at area studios and workshops and seminars
throughout California, and at the University of Utah where she
was a Ballet Major. She is certified by Infinite Dynamics to teach
Pilates Body Conditioning. Elaine teaches Ballet and Pilates Mat
and Reformer Sessions. Her choreography credits include
development of full-length story ballets for SBS, Tintypes and
The Secret Garden for S tockton Civic Theatre, Quilters, Dancing
at Lughnasa for Circle Theatre Ensemble and A Mid-Summer
Night’s Dream with SBS dancers, SCT actors and the Stockton
Symphony, She also teaches Pilates for Capitol Ballet Center in
Sacramento. In 2007 she was the Pilates teacher for the Paul
Taylor West Coast Dance Intensive held at UC Davis.
Evelyn Barney is a Physical Therapist and Mom to Gabriel,
Carina and Anisa. She began her dance training in Stockton with
Muffie Maynard. Evelyn has studied tap, jazz and ballet. Her
performance credits include shows at Stockton Civic Theatre,
Asian American Repertory Theatre, S.J. Delta College and New
Dance Company. She will teach Tap and choreograph for SBS
Performing Co. Evelyn choreographs for S aint Mary’s High School
Theatre Department. In 2011 she won a Stockton Civic Theatre
Willie Award for Best Choreography for 42nd Street. This year she
will choreograph White Christmas and Anything Goes for SCT.
Caitlin Denton has been dancing with SBS since the age of
four. She has taken classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe and
Ballroom, and was a member of the SBS Performing Co. A
graduate of Linden High School, she is attending The University of
the Pacific as a Sociology major. She has played the drums for 8
years in marching, jazz and concert bands and believes her feel for
rhythm has helped her become a better dancer. She has a love for
dance and is excited to experience it from a different perspective.
Nicole Erisman started ballet, tap and basic tumbling and
added jazz, hip hop, pointe, ballroom at Janna's School of Dance
in Nebraska City, NE. She was the captain and choreographer of
her high school dance team. In junior college she was a Spanish
major and member of the Sapphire Dance Team . At the
University of Kansas, she became a Dance major, teaching
ballroom, tap, ballet, and hip hop in studios in Kansas City. She
moved to Stockton in 2009 and will teach Ballroom and Hip Hop
Workshops at SBS.
Katherine Esau recently graduated from Sac State with a BA
in Psychology and a minor in dance. She is currently in grad
school to become a special education teacher. Dancing since the
age of 5, Kate has studied everything from ballet and jazz to
modern and contemporary. She will teach jazz and ballet.
Terra Fearrand began dancing ballet and tap at Judy’s Dance
Studio, and added jazz classes at the Dance & Aerobic Co /Center
Stage Dance Co where she later taught jazz. As a CSD Co
member she was awarded scholarships at Tremaine and Dupree
Dance Competitions. She studied ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and
hip-hop classes at the Third Street Dance Academy, Termaine
Dance Studio and The Edge in Hollywood. W hile a scholarship
student at Third Street Dance Academy she became the assistant
to Director, George Alexandre. A t 19, she was signed by LA Talent
agency for dance and commercial work. She graduated from
UCSD with a BA in Sociology and was a UCSD Co. dancer. She was nominated for an SCT Willie for her role as "Anytime Annie" in 42nd Street. She choreographed SCT's 2012-2013 season opener, Grease.
Mimi Nguyen brings over 20 Years of Taekwondo and
Tumbling experience to Stockton Ballet School. She has
practiced and coached Taekwondo throughout Northern
California and has held National and International Titles through
college. A fter high school, she attended University of California
at Davis where she earned her Bachelor of Science in
Mathematics and University of California at Berkeley where she
earned her Master of Business Administration in Finance.
Today, Mimi is the Associate Director of Asian Resources, Inc.,
overseeing the program and operations of two workforce
development offices. Mim i will teach monthly workshops in
Tumbling for Elementary and Basic age students.
